Here’s a lesson to friends of the bride.

If she gets a set of cupcakes delivered to her as she’s getting ready that say, “I CAN’T WAIT TO MARRY YOU!” pay attention to the order in which you eat them!!

Especially if you choose to eat some before the photographer arrives!

Our good friend Laura Nadeau of Lo & Co. did a wonderful job on Kim’s makeup. What a …

mary + adam – the wedding day

Thought I’d share a few shots from Mary and Adam’s wedding that we shot a little while ago.

Orig filename = 16150117_BDS38297

Orig filename = 16143559_BDS38275

She had on one of the most amazing dresses I had ever seen.

It had so much wonderful detailing.

It’s great to have a suite like those at the Waldorf when you’re getting ready. There’s enough room to find some great angles on what’s going on.

They looked so good that I thought I’d take a cover shot on spec. Just in case…

a few moments from a few weddings…

It’s been a crazy busy summer and once again the blog has had to take a backseat to “work work”. As we begin to come up for air, I thought it would be nice to just catch everyone up with a few shots from each of the many events we did in the last few months.

If you had to script a shot to show that classic moment of tension just before the bride goes down the aisle I don’t think you could do much better than this image of Sarah lost in the moment. A mysterious hand adjusting her veil and that’s her father checking his watch in the background.

Ready or not…. here we come.

And what makes these images extra special is the fact that Sarah is the third generation in her family to get married in this church in Manhattan.

Daniella and Adam were high school sweethearts growing up in Livingston, NJ together. It was inevitable that they would tie the knot and have a great time doing it.

Stunning, right?

They really act like best friends. You can see it in their photographs.

But the coolest part? Knishes, Pastrami Reubens, Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry Soda and Egg Creams during cocktails! Awesome. Now either you appreciate this stuff or you don’t. Personally, this is how I get in touch with my roots. And if you’ve never had an egg cream with a pretzel, well – you gotta expand your horizons and make new friends. This is not for tribe members only.

Dinner service was stunning as well.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you some shots from Sayuri and Jeff’s Wedding at The Metropolitan Club in NYC.

Now while Sayuri looked stunning in bridal white …

Check her and her bridesmaids out in their Eastern garb.

Sayuri also wins the annual prize for best calligraphy. Such a wonderful dying art.

Even the cake was designed to match the outfits.

Such a pleasure to work with so many wonderful designers, caterers, artists, stylists – they just give us so much to work with!

rumi + stephen – the wedding day

You may remember Rumi and Stephen from our engagement session awhile back up at The Cloisters. Well Rumi’s mother consulted the calendar and Rumi’s Happy Day in Japan was 5/17/08 so that’s when they choose to have their wedding.

On her wedding day, Rumi decided to get ready at the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District.

Stephen and The Boys took the scenic route…

Below her father waits for the last guests to arrive before bringing Rumi into the church.

She and Stephen share a moment while the Abercrombie and Fitch guy lies stunned watching them.

How cute are the flowergirls in those dresses?

For a part of the reception, Rumi changed into a beautiful Kimono that required a dresser about 20 minutes to get her into. But it was stunning.

As was the view from the Manhattan Penthouse where the reception was held.

joanne + anthony – the wedding day

Not only are Joanne and Anthony a lot of fun, but their friends are a blast as well. They had their reception here in my neighborhood at Tribeca Rooftop and the couple left some time for pictures in the area following their ceremony and before their reception started.

Now, as a person who doesn’t really like having my own picture taken (having spent waaaayyyy too much time as a kid feigning a smile while waiting for my Dad to focus and push the button and – wait, hang on, I forgot to cock the shutter…), I’m really sensitive to others’ “in front of camera” time. I do my “formals” or non-photojouralistic portraits really quickly. I find that if I keep things moving and lively and fun – people really don’t have time to think about the fact that they’re in front of my camera. And because this is a day of celebration (and very often, there’s an open bar a-waiting) I don’t want to keep people any longer than the absolute minimum.

But the funny thing is that, if you make the entire picture taking process fun enough, people can actually enjoy the time they spend with you.

Joanne and Anthony and their wedding party took it even further – they didn’t want to stop.

I kept asking if they wanted to stop and they kept saying, “no, this is a blast, let’s keep going”. And who was I to say otherwise. So even though I would have been happy just to get a shot like this:

(will you just look at the expression on that flowergirl?)

They wanted to do more and so we got this…

and this.

I mean, when I saw T&A coffee – I just had to do something funny with the bridesmaids…

Tribeca Rooftop is a wonderful space for those looking for something upscale downtown – great views, a huge, fun, loft space, a roofdeck.

And check out the great “interactive” menus – those fun little folding paper thingys that you played with when you were a kid.

At this size you probably can’t appreciate all the great goings on in this shot but many of the expressions are priceless.
