The Metropolitan Club is one of the grandest spaces of old New York. The club was founded by JP Morgan (supposedly because as a member of the nouveau riche he was not accepted as a member to the other proper gentleman’s clubs of that day. (so he figured he’d build his own). Even though still a private club – this wondrous Stanford White designed palazzo does still play host to many …

i consider my team of photographers among the best at capturing those split second funny moments that go on at weddings. but sometimes humor comes not from something that happens at the wedding but comes from the photographer and the actual act of “fixing” the image. in these cases, there is no ‘joke’ per se outside the photograph itself.
i thought i’d share a couple of examples of these over the next few days.
case in point:

“I can tie my shoes all by myself.”

We are always looking to push the boundaries of what wedding albums can be. We’ve been working on the design of these books for years and are incredibly proud to show off our one of a kind handmade folio fine art books. These albums are designed like an art piece to showcase the very best images from the wedding day as individual fine art prints on 100% cotton rag papers. Even the papers are made especially for our studio. Our own hand finished prints are then bound by our artisanal bookbinder who hand makes each binding using the finest leathers and japanese silks.

Since each of our Folio Fine Art Books is custom designed as a personal presentation space for your fine art wedding prints each is one of a kind.

We are really proud to add these to our lineup of image presentation options.

Just wanted to finally give props to Ron who shot the “epic” section header for The Reception section of New York Magazine’s Winter Weddings Issue. It was another beautiful wedding design by Jung Lee of Fete and was held at the amazing Brooklyn Museum.

we will share more details of this stunner of an event shortly.

Thought we’d share some of Meghan and Keith’s pink and green themed wedding at The Bowery Hotel with everyone.
For all of you curious types:
Meghan’s dress is by Oscar de la Renta.
Flowers and event design is by the wonderful Matthew Robbins Design.

The Knot Magazine and Wedding Channel held their 2nd Annual Gala at the New York Public Library last night. It was a night filled with notables in the wedding industry and we were not only guests, but also the official photographers for the evening’s festivities.

But the best part was getting a chance to see old friends in such a great space.

Randy Fenoli, fashion director of Kleinfeld Bridal and star of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress,” was there and he always amps things up to a new level – even getting Carley Roney who runs The Knot to jump for Chris’s camera – while she’s wearing those heels! Carley and I worked together on the TV show “My Celebrity Wedding” but I’m not not so much the red carpet jumping type so I opted to keep my feet on the ground.

but by the end of the night, it looked like Randy, Chris and I were old friends.

Many thanks to the BDS team who were there making the magic – Kim, Chris, Katie, as well as Angel and Celeste (both not pictured).

Well, the season has been an extremely busy one for us and while we’ve been keeping up with the work for our clients, it has been at the expense of our blog. But never fear – we’re on it.
And here to kick off the fall season is are a few highlights from last week’s wedding with Lauren and Chris.
Lauren arrived at the church in a perfectly restored Model A Ford.
Lauren awaiting her big moment… the cue to walk down the aisle.
Ron’s alternative take on the recession.
Chris and Lauren wave goodbye as they depart the church in the Model A.
(What I thought was amazing was that the gas gauge is actually a small glass window through which you actually see the gasoline sloshing around. – scary!)
Ron had to address the issue, “What do you do when you’re shooting outside on the streets with fifteen (15!) groomsmen and it starts to rain”?
I think funniest shot of the day goes to Ron – who got this great one of Chris (who is a banker).

Many many thanks go to the fabulous Claire Bean who planned this event. There are some people that do a great job at event planning and design and are really FUN to work with and we put Claire at the top of that category. We just love her.

we do love our weddings here at the studio, but the truth is, if you can do them ultra-high end new york city wedding thingies with celebrities and royalty etc., etc. you can pretty much shoot anything.
Case in point: our very own Chris is really an amazing music photographer as well as wedding photographer. As a follow up to his successful photo sessions with the elder statesman of British Pop, Sir Elton John, Chris was recently asked to shoot the latest British pop sensation, ADELE for some promotions to coincide with her recently released album 21. Check out the amazing portraits he created of her.

Bloody brilliant, Chris!
And if you don’t know Adele yet you should take a sec to check out her video on iheartradio and discover what her 1.8 million facebook fans find so appealing about her amazing voice.

Personally, I think Chris has already shot her NEXT album cover! |

we are so pleased to have a few images included in the new spring/summer 2011 issue of wellwed hamptons!

taylor and brett’s wedding images (above) are also featured as one of wellwed magazine’s real weddings online. deservedly so – the wedding was stunning and the images are beautiful! check it out here.

adriana and josh’s images (above) were used in a color story for their “woodland” color palette. one of our favorite event designers, clarie bean, used green and white flora to compliment the organic beauty of bedell cellars.

for more inspiration, ideas and beautiful imagery, you should grab a copy of the magazine – on newstands now!
