barry waited for his bride to arrive and when she appeared the best man appeared on the scene to step in an take his place.

elana grew up ice skating at the rink in rockefeller center so what better place for her to get married than the rainbow room.

some grooms kiss the bride. other grooms KISS the bride.

this was one of the last weddings at The Rainbow Room since Cipriani is giving up the space. it really is the end of an era.
the deco detail in the space is so cool.

how many places still have a giant rotating circular dance floor?

OK, I’ll admit it. i’m such a guy at times. i did know alot of thought (and $$) go into a bride’s shoes so I usually grabbed a detail shot of the them. but awhile back I made a comment to my wife about how there seems to be a trend to having the bride wear red soled shoes on the wedding day. she shoots me this look like I’ve been cursed with a Y chromosome or something…
anyway … so now I’m properly educated about Christian Louboutin. silly me.
when eric arrived to see his bride for the first time he was informed by the bridesmaids that he and his groomsmen would have to demonstrate their worthiness by performing certain tasks…
they were required to volunteer for the tests before knowing what the tests were. then they found out….
this poor guy had to have his leg waxed…
after a series of brutal tests, eric was found worthy and allowed to seek her appearance.
his groomsmen earned it on his behalf.
we went over to central park for some shots
sometimes you find little magical areas of light that you can use to really make your images sing. in the shot below, the light was streaming through the trees creating these beautiful pools of light on the ground and i put our couple in the shade but just enough forward enough to create that highlight on her hair but close enough to catch the reflection of the pool of light in front of them.
see the light in Susan’s face – that’s the magic quality behind most cover model shoots.
susan’s bouquet was absolutely stunning – care of the amazing Michelle Rago and her team.
and the bridesmaid’s bouquets, brilliant roses, ranunculus and black feathers were equally stunning.
and then it was off to the church.
after the church ceremony, we were lovingly accosted by some seabees who were in town and wanted a picture with a beautiful new york bride.
obviously there were a lot of things going on, but it was all brought together flawlessly by Jennifer Brisman and her event planning staff.
next it was and then a quick outfit change for the tea ceremony.
the tea ceremony and reception were held in the drop-dead stunningly grand Cipriani 42nd Street run by the gracious Debra Mella. this place is special even with nothing in it.
but when Michelle Rago and her folks get done with it – it is nothing short of spectacular.
more in the next post.
]]>so, you may recall in some of my earlier posts how I was pointing out that lighting really can add drama to an event space and can also help to make it seem like the decor is changing throughout the evening???
well…
what a fantastic way of using the height of the centerpieces to complement the expansiveness of the venue
and by simply shifting the lighting colors…
I really loved the way Michelle infused an asian sensibility in the details without resorting to old trite standards.
when the party kicked into gear – so did the lighting
not only does lighting create a heightened sense of action in the room, it has the same effect on the guests.
light. yum.
]]>They held their wedding in The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. Michelle got ready in the Empire Suites in the tower there and just seconds before we were going to walk out the door to capture her and David seeing each other for the first time, the wind picked up. We didn’t want anyone to blow away so we had to scramble for another location. Well, let’s see what we can just do with the lobby. Tourists be damned.
Here’s the shot at the front desk. Excuse me Mr. Security Guard, would you mind stepping to the left for a second…
Michelle’s diva moment.
The ceremony was filled with wonderful moments like this one.
And they rocked the house during the reception.
Then off to Bora Bora were they…. Sweet.
