The Metropolitan Club is one of the grandest spaces of old New York. The club was founded by JP Morgan (supposedly because as a member of the nouveau riche he was not accepted as a member to the other proper gentleman’s clubs of that day. (so he figured he’d build his own). Even though still a private club – this wondrous Stanford White designed palazzo does still play host to many …

PDN has just released the results of their annual Top Knots contest. This image from David and Vanessa’s wedding snagged a place in the receptions category!

The image, titled “Fin”, was used to end the article. Clever, PDN… very clever!

we’ve had so many requests for more of vanessa and david’s wonderful wedding that we thought we’d share a few more select images from their fab day at The Plaza ….

Below: Seth Rogen helps out a fellow groomsmen get dressed and gets some added encouragement.
David and Vanessa see each other for the first time in a secluded area of Central Park.

The celebrity studded groomsmen take a break on Central Parks’ Bow Bridge.
The goofy group had a great time hammin’ it up – brining their LA-based love for the camera to NYC.

But the ceremony was touching and very emotional – quite old school – and a big contrast to the horsing around in the Park.

And below you have the one and only ChuppaCam in action. I wanted a birds eye shot of the kiss in the context of the beautiful setting that Michelle Rago had created in The Terrace Room at The Plaza – but since I’m really against intruding on the sanctity of the ceremony we came up with a plan to rig up a remote triggered camera that we buried in the canopy of the Chuppa. The camera was completely covered with leaves so that it was completely invisible to the guests and we triggered it wirelessly.

We have loads of beautiful portraits of David and Vanessa but I wanted to show you this one since I think it really captures the playful spirit of this special couple. Vanessa with her nose slightly scrunched – David goofing around but through that – you can feel the real love and connection that these two have for each other. Beyond being able to capture all the beauty and the grandure and the moments and the details, I think the real magic of photography – is capturing the personalities of my couples.
Lots of wonderful images to share from the celebrity filled evening as well coming soon.

Whereas “New York Magazine” is the go to magazine for New Yorkers – in Shanghai, it’s “The Bund”.
Recently our studio was featured in The Bund and had an entire section dedicated to an interview with me. But I have to say, I can’t for the life of me figure out what it says…. I hear it’s all good…
Can’t wait to photograph weddings in Shanghai!!

there’s nothing like capturing the palpable excitement when the bride emerges from her dressing room for the first time. especially when there’s an entourage the size of Allison’s.

you can see how the rest of the day played out below.

from the files of – you never know what you’re going to get to work with while shooting in central park – comes Mr. Bubble.
It seems there’s someone trying to give The Naked Cowboy a run for his money…. he blows bubbles all day long at Bethesda Fountain.

check out the upside down reflection of the fountain in the left hand side of the bubble

and the right side up reflection in the right side….

Can’t wait to photograph their wedding at the Essex House this spring…

and even the gondola dude was singing…

an idyllic world in the middle of manhattan…

sometimes i can’t believe myself how far away from the city you can get in central park. 4 minutes into the park and it’s like you’re in New Hampshire or something.

are lindsay and steve starting a cute family or what?
