portfolio updates: part 5 – destination weddings

we recently updated the destination wedding portfolio on our website. don’t some of these images just make you want to jump on a plane and fly off to a tropical island right now!?

(Kim shooting in Anguilla)

(Brian shooting in a very rainy Kauai)

(Ron shooting in Anguilla)

(Brian and Chris shooting in St. Barts)

did you know that all of our international destination wedding photography packages come with a complimentary post-event portrait session? we get the most killer images when the bride has stopped worrying about getting the dress dirty!  Like these images, shot by Kim,  from Danielle and David’s wedding in Anguilla: (of course, sand between the toes and a rum drink in the hand is quite helpful for the groom as well. )

we’ve got a lot of exciting destination weddings going on this year so there will be lots more to share.   in fact, we’re off to the bahamas this thursday to shoot what’s going to be a really fun three day event on harbor island this weekend!

in the mean time, check out more from our destination weddings here.

up close and personal – the shoot with ADELE

we do love our weddings here at the studio, but the truth is, if you can do them ultra-high end new york city wedding thingies with celebrities and royalty etc.,  etc. you can pretty much shoot anything.

Case in point: our very own Chris is really an amazing music photographer as well as wedding photographer.  As a follow up to his successful photo sessions with the elder statesman of British Pop,  Sir Elton John, Chris was recently asked to shoot the latest British pop sensation, ADELE for some promotions to coincide with her recently released album 21.  Check out the amazing portraits he created of her.

Bloody brilliant, Chris!

And if you don’t know Adele yet you should take a sec to check out her video on iheartradio and discover what her 1.8 million facebook fans find so appealing about her amazing voice.

Personally, I think Chris has already shot her NEXT album cover!

we’re thrilled to be part of grace ormonde’s wedding style inspiration galleries! you can see our work in each of the following:

wellwed hamptons

we are so pleased to have a few images included in the new spring/summer 2011 issue of wellwed hamptons!

taylor and brett’s wedding images (above) are also featured as one of wellwed magazine’s real weddings online. deservedly so – the wedding was stunning and the images are beautiful! check it out here.

adriana and josh’s images (above) were used in a color story for their “woodland” color palette. one of our favorite event designers, clarie bean, used green and white flora to compliment the organic beauty of bedell cellars.

for more inspiration, ideas and beautiful imagery, you should grab a copy of the magazine – on newstands now!

pdn top knots 2011 – fin

PDN has just released the results of their annual Top Knots contest. This image from David and Vanessa’s wedding snagged a place in the receptions category!

The image, titled “Fin”, was used to end the article. Clever, PDN… very clever!

tamra + michael: a color story

i LOVE it when all the details come together! tamra and michael’s wedding was a splendid black and white affair. of course, there’s the obvious – bridal gown, groom’s tux, the bridal party attire and flowers, the paper materials. but these two took event design to the next level. from a FABULOUS cake by ron ben-israel to their adorable dog, bella – you’ll have to check out the images below for a glimpse into their black and white wedding.

new york magazine weddings showcase 2011

last week we had a chance to hang with a bunch of our good friends at the new york magazine weddings showcase.   new york magazine hosts the event every year and it’s the perfect opportunity to have a glass of wine, catch up with colleagues and keep our fingers on the pulse of all things wedding!  this year, we hung with some old friends and made some new ones.  Here’s just a few of our faves you should definitely check out if you’re planning your wedding:

ron ben-israel - the most amazing cakes, of course!  Ron was off in some warm clime teaching the world how to do what he does but the lovely Rebecca was there to hold do the fort.

mark ingram – the bridal atelier – mr. couture – and  t h e  place to get your wedding dress

the registry at bloomingdales – if you haven’t had a chance to check out the exhibition of wedding images in the gallery at bloomingdales’ registry department, you should.  we are the featured artist on display.

judy paulen designs – planning and invitations also in bloomingdales – we love Jessica Paulen!

hart pictures – Jessie Hart is a videographer that we worked with on St. Barts.  Great seeing him and his wife again!

generation events – We’ve worked with DJ Jason Fioto many times and it’s always fun to hang with him as he gets the crowd grooving.

hatch creative studio – Barb Hatch does wonderful event design

we even caught up with a few of our 2011 brides.  it was great to see what everyone is bringing to the table this year and what we have to look forward to.

bride’s head revisited

we’ve seen some really fantastic hair accessories at some of our recent weddings, and it got us talking today about all the brides that stuck in our minds because of their creative hair accoutrement. the list grew surprisingly longer and longer – and we decided we just had to share some of them with you!

from complex up dos to simple, playful ponytails, we’ve seen it all. here are some of our favorites:

winter wedding at pleasantdale chateau

you might recall raya and adam from their wonderful engagement session in madison square park. we recently shot their wedding at Pleasantdale Chateau – which, incidentally, is where Celeste and I got married, so it was especially fun for us as we felt we got to relive our own wedding from the other side of the lens.

Twas a bitterly cold winter day so we were lucky to have a place like the Chateau since there are so many great rooms to work with inside.  Fountain rooms, garden rooms, a pool /solarium, billiard rooms to name a few (this place goes on forever).

We did venture out for a brief brisk walk…

kim got this wonderful shot of the ketubah – she managed to get the entire line of gold ink to perfectly reflect the light so it makes a really strong focal point

under the chuppah…

and immediately following the ceremony…
